The Wild Adventures of Smith "Ace" Wessen

BOOM!
The wall exploded over the top of Aces, rock crumbled down beside him.
Taking refuge behind a fallen pillar Ace swung his trusty musket up and over the fallen rock and peered down the scope.
"Where are you Mr Holt" He muttered under his breath "I know you're out there"
A flash caught Aces attention, then lining up his the half orcs head in his scope he squeezed the trigger. The great hulk hit the wall behind him, leaving a red trail as he slid down.
"And theres the Kicker" Ace said, slinging his musket over one shoulder.
Ace slowly made his way across the courtyard, chunks of stone and giant throwing axes laid around the place, evidence of the struggle between Mr Holt, the half orc barbarian, and himself.
Approaching the still warm body of the brute Ace bent down to check his shot, straight through the head as always.
"How did it all come to this" Ace asked himself.
Just 6 years ago he had been trudging the mud with his goblin brethren, leader of the Bloodear tribe, a relatively small tribe whose greatest accomplishments amounted to a few small skirmishes that had won them a little plot of land with a few makeshift tents on it.
Ofcourse Ace had gone under a different name then, Gnarloc Grint, he had built the Bloodear tribe up from the mud, literally.
Then he had discovered the barrel, and after that his world had changed. The barrel had contained a black powder that exploded when ignited by fire, and it had excited the little goblins, never had they seen something so powerful. Many tribes wielded fire to terrorise other tribes in battle, but the power this black powder gave the Bloodear tribe was unprecended.
Thats when Ace got the idea.
Ace had a dream, he wanted to Bloodear tribe at the top, the largest tribe in the world, and unite all the goblin tribes under his banner.
It had worked rather well, epic battles were fought that under normal circumstances they would have lost, but the power of the powder gave them the edge and soon the Bloodear tribe had incorporated several of the other small tribes, aswell as the Whitenose tribe, one of the greatest warrior tribes known to goblins.
As a sign of good faith Ace had allow Farlof Mit, the leader of the Whitenose, into his war party.
Things went well for a while, the Bloodear tribe was uniting the goblins under one banner, Ace had been focused so much on his dream that he hadn't noticed the dissent within his war party.
Unbeknownst to him, Farlof had been working against Ace, convincing the other members of the war party to move against Ace.
And then the last day that Ace would ever be a goblin came. He had been scouting ahead with a small band of warriors, when he was ambushed by several goblins. His band fell quickly and Ace found himself staring face to face with Farlof Mit, one of the greatest goblin warriors in history.
He would never forget the sneer of Farlofs face that day after he was dragged back to the war camp, the other members of his war party standing around him.
Farlof had assembled every goblin in the area. Ace looked around as Farlof ranted about the rise of the Whitenose tribe, he noticed that the leaders of the Bloodear tribe had been gathered up and surrounded by a group of warrior goblins.
Then Farlof ordered Ace to be brought in front of him.
"Gnarloc Grint, leader of the Bloodear tribe" Farlof sneered "You are unfit for command, especially of a tribe this large, but thanks to you my job has been made a lot easier, now I have a much larger tribe of warriors"
Farlof signalled to his guards and the brought their spears up over the heads of the members of the Bloodear tribe.
"And your blood makes us weak" Farlof continued "Hence forth, the Bloodear tribe will be disolved, and you, Gnarloc, will be executed..Get him out of my sight"
And with that the spears came down, Ace screamed as his watched his family die, and then he grabbed the nearest guard, wrenching his sword from him and attacked.
The fight didn't last long, Ace escaped the camp, but he could never go back.
He wandered the wilds for a long time, he wasn't sure how long exactly, stealing food from farms where he could.
He had commited the secrets of the powder to memory, recalling how to make it he used it to scare off bandits from their camps and then rummaged through what was left for equipment.
Thats how he gained the Orders attention.

Been gone, new game ideas

Hello again my dear readers of which I don't have many, Welcome back!

Anywho, yes I know I haven't posted in ages, well to put it bluntly, we stopped playing that game so I couldn't write a story about it could I?

I hope to have a new story arc up and running soon, tis nvolves my Mutants and Masterminds group, however it does not necessarily follow their exploits, instead it will be about another character in the same world doing his thing. For those not in the know Mutants and Masterminds is a super heroes game, its quite fun, at the moment my players are high school kids attending the Strangewood Heights Academy for Learning, in the town of Strangewood, and they have fought various things from robots to a giant bookworm and his elder brother, evil clowns at a circus and a fairytale book.

So, look forward to that.

The other reason or this post is I have had a brain wave for either a story I make up, or a game my players can play in.

The Idea: Pathfinder in Space
In the year 2030 archeologists uncovered a strange temple. They couldn't identify the source of the markings or anything within, but there was strange artefacts that certainly couldn't have been made by ancient man. After a few years of study, scientists used the artefacts found within to create a new spaceship, capable of reaching the outer limits of our system within a week.
Using the new ship Mars was colonised.
A few years after the colonisation of Mars a new temple was uncovered, larger than the one found on Earth.
Using knowledge gathered from the new temple scientists created terraforming devices, and launched a new ship, complete with humanaties first "Icarus" drive, a faster than light drive capabe of allowing humans to leave this system.
Upon entering the nearest system scientists began terraforming a nice little planet to a level of habitability almost similar to Earths, it was named Terraforma.
However Terraforma was known by a different name to a different species who had already claimed Terraforma in their name.
Upon discovery of humans this new race, nicknamed nicely by the colonists of Terraforma as "Orcs", attempted to negotiate with the humans on Terraforma, but it ended badly and the galactic event known as the "Human Contact War" started up.
Decades passed, millions upon millions of people died, eventually humans were over run by Orcs with their advanced technology far beyond our own. In a truce Terraforma was offered to Orcs and the Human Galactic Empire was brought into the Galactic Alliance, a group of aliens from all over the galaxy united under one banner.
Aliens in the Alliance are:
Elves
Dwarves
Halflings
Orcs
Humans
Gnomes

It is now 100 years after the end of the Human Contact War, the players find themselves stranded on a "Saloon" class planet, a planet that has been barely terraformed to become habitable and had colonists shoved onto it, in the Corale system.
Humans are leading the way in terraforming of planets.
One thing to note is that every civilisation in the alliance, every planet that in counts as its own, there has been cahces of this alien technology found, similar to what was found on Earth and Mars. At some point there must have been a galactic spanning empire that fell and left its remains behind in the form of these tech caches. It seems as if every civilisations technolgy is built upon the tech caches found on various planets.
Everybody is always looking for the next find, because tech caches mean big money.

Systems are broken into 3: Core systems which have futuristic tech, Backwater systems which are low tech and almost cowboys, and Middle which is a mix of both. (its like firefly)

Players are stranded on this Saloon world without enough money to make it back to the core systems, this backwater planet is like many others and is very cowboyish, with bits of advanced alien tech thrown in to make life better, nobody knows quite how it all works, but so long as it doesn't break down we'll all be fine.
Players are hired by Hydra Tech Industries, one of the big three, to head out west and follow up rumors of a great Vault said to be on this planet holding lots of advanced Tech, with the promise that if they find it Hydra Tech will give them enough money to get off this rock and back to core systems, with some left over to buy a ship.

So its basically pathfinder meets cowboys meets firefly meets mass effect.
I figure classes are relatively the same, fighters, rogues, barbarians are just hired guns, anyone who can do magic has been implanted with a N-Chip implant which allows access to different "magic".
Magic is basically just advanced technology.
Druids can be shapeshifters, or somebody in their past was a shapeshifter and they inherited the ability.
Any class granted the martial weapon feat can exchange it for the exotic weapon firearms feat.

So, I know its long but what do people reckon?

As always, I love comments.
