Dead Gods: The Legendary Legend of Daeon part 1

"Come on, it'll be rad, the students love this stuff and you could even make some money on the saide" Daeon was trying to convince the dampus monitors to let him throw a party using one of the halls.

Daeon had always found college easy. The work wasn't that, he hardly had to pay attention, there were tons of people to meet, and the parties. Daeon loved the parties.
He had excelled at setting up parties, throwing get togethers, and carousing shin digs at school, no matter what it was, if it involved a social gatherings of large amounts of people, it involved Daeon.
Daeon had put his natural talents to work when he hit college, forming parties and even offering his services to some of the local frat boys, and pretty soon he became well known for the legendary talents.
Daeon, the man, the guy to call when you needed something. He didn't just organise them, he made them.
Going under the guise of DJ Bacchus, Daeon released top hit mixes, his music became the sound of a generation, a symbol, and something with which to get funky.
He was Daeon the DJ.

Now he was standing in the quad, trees swaying gently to the summer breeze, the aroma of flowers filled the air, it was party season, parties was Daeons business, and business was good.
The campus monitor looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Well, I have been to some of your shin digs...they get a bit...wild at times" he said, looking back at Daeon.
"I can throw any kind of party your heart desires, my friend..." Daeon replied, he had hoped it would be an easy sell, the campus guys could make some money, and everyone would enjoy themselves, and he could probably make a cut too.
"Alright, I will have to talk to some people, see what we can do...sounds fun though"
"Most radical!" replied Daeon, a grin crossed his faced.
The campus monitor looked away, then back at Daeon, his smile gone.
"Crap" he said
"Whats wrong?"
He didnt say anything, just pointed to some kids heading their way.
Daeon looked over to them, he recognised them, they were the rich kids, the kind of people that used Daeons services regularly, and in front were the leaders of the pack.
Edwin Von Snobbish the XII, as he referred to himself, belonged to one of the richest, and most influential families around. The Von Snobbish's had their hands in everything, from coal mining, to record to producing to politics.
Edwin approached Daeon, his brother Willard, who was ever present at his side, smile shyly.
"Hello Dean" started Edwin, he could never get the name right.
Daeon cringed, but recovered quickly.
"What is up my little party hardlings?"
"Well, I've been looking for you, I want you to put together something for us...Something big"
"Very big" sad Willard, piping up.
"Big, boys, is my specialty" said Daeon "Whats the occasion?"
"H'well" began Edwin " as you are no doubt aware I'll be graduating soon, top marks ofcourse, and be heading off to work for my father next year. I've decided I want my leaving to be memorable, I was thinking maybe, a trip to las vegas for all the top lads. My family owns a bit of land out in the desert I want to use, it will be quite isolated so we shouldn't run into any problems"
Daeon nodded.
"Wide open spaces, I like, I like...What kind of budget are we running to here, my soon-to-be-a-graduand bro?"
Edwin shrugged.
"Oh well, you know me, price is no object...Hows $10,000 to start?"
"That sounds pretty narly, dude" Deon said, his mind reeled for a second, that was a nice chunk of green "To start...Of course" he finished.
"Excellent!" replied Edwin, he rubbed his hands together "How long should it take to organise everything?"
"Edwin, my brother, you know I work to your budget, your deadlines, and your requirements - I'm as flexible as that Gymnast your little bro there hangs out with"
Willard chuckled, which was followed by a swift slap to his head by Edwin.
Edwin though for a moment.
"Very well...2 weeks time?"
Daeon stopped, he began calculating a few things in his mind.
"I trust you'll be using my musical services?"
"Ofcourse Dean, you are the musical maestro" replied Edwin.
"Excellent, and to what genre do our tastes run for an event of this calibre?" asked Daeon "You know I can mix anything, into anything, with anything" he grinned.
Willard chuckled again, this time Edwin took no notice.
"Yes, yes, we've been impressed by what you can do in the past. Something that will get people up and dancing, something that will make them...lose control, as it were" Edwin replied, he grinned this time.
"That can most definatly be arranged my friends"
"Good, well...Until then, goodbye" Edwin turned and left, Willard grinned at Daeon and then quickly scurried away after Edwin.
*Beep Beep* Daeons phone went off.
Checking the message it was from Mystical Muscalities, the local music shop Daeon enjoyed visiting.
"Hey man" it read "New parts in, came all the way from Oz, but it's in one piece, check it out after class"
Daeon made a mental note to drop by, and then went back to class.

During class Daeon payed little attention to the lecture material, he tended to get by on his charisma, and some of the lecturers owed him a few favours for keeping quiet about some of their activites during his parties.
Once classes had finished he slipped on his messenger back, jumped on his motorcycle and headed off to see his new gadget.

Pulling in to the rear parking lot, the place was mostly empty, except for the puke green, beat up old volkswagon beetle he knew to be Rays, the owner of the store. A reserved sign danled in front of a parking spot near the entrance, the spot Ray always reserved for Daeon.
Daeon entered the shop.
A middle aged man sat behind a glass counter, his hair had receded so much he reminded Daeon of a monk. Thick glasses sat atop his nose, as he peered over the top of a guitar.
"Hey Daeon" Said Ray "Got the part for you"
"Sweet man, whats she like then?" asked Daeon, he put his helmet on the counter.
Ray put his guitar down.
"Haven't opened it yet" he said, placing a brown parcel on the counter.
"Sweet man" Daeon inspected the box "How's business?"
"Business is good, as always" replied Ray, he gestured around the empty store "Got some new stock in today, tuning a few guitars for that semi-professional heavy metal band, Death Gods"
Daeon remembered hearing about Death Gods. It was a band that had become big on the music scene a few months ago.
"Sweet, Heard much of their stuff?" he asked, using his keys to open the box.
Ray shook his head.
"Nah, not much into that kind of music, specially that new song, Ressurection, listened to a bit, sounded crap t me, but hey, they got the green so I don't mind too much"
"Yeah man, not my kind of music either...Aaah, brilliant" said Daeon, holding his new piece up to the light "Looks just like the bit I was missing"
"Knew you'd be stoked" replied Ray, ringing up the till.
As Daeon turned the part in his hand something caught his eye. Sitting on a shelf behind the counter, a pair of old headphones looked particularly interesting, it called to him.
"Hey, don't be so hasty with the thinking I'm done yet brother..."
Ray stopped.
"Oh sorry man, whatchya need?" he asked.
"Lemme...Just look at those headphones...I've got a big gig comming up in the middle of nowhere -  I'm gunna need to drown out the sound of preppy rich boys" said Daeon, the headphones called to him again, he wanted to try them, now.
"Oh those things" said Ray, fetching the headphones "Found them the other day. They were out the back, dunno for how long, didn't even know I had them"
Daeon picked them up and inspected them closely, they were old, really old.
"man...retro...Got anything i can test them on?"
"Sure, you know where the equipment is" Ray said, waving him towards the test equipment.
Daeon plugged them in and set to work. The headphones were great, he could hear everything, every beat, every scratch, every note.
Packing them up he looked at Ray.
"Ring 'em up" he said
Ray added the headphones to his bill, and after having handed over his money Daeon was out of the store.

A large, black raven sat atop his motorbike, another pecked at something on the ground.
Daeon shivered, the birds gave him the creeps.
The first bird looked at him with beady eyes.
"CAW!" it said.
The other pecked at the ground.
The first looked at the one on the ground.
"CAW!" it repeated.
The second looked up.
"Oh, CAW!" it said.
Daeon shook his head, he couldn't have heard that right.
He edged towards his bike, the first spread its wings and flew off into the sky, the second stayed for a few seconds and flew after the first.
"heh, They're like Edwin and Willard" said Daeon out loud.

Getting back to his room Daeon plugged his new headphones in and began mixing. Music flowed from his fingertips, it had never come so easily to him. After a while he checked the time, hours had gone past.
Removing the headphones he inspected them.
"Man!" he exlaimed "These things rock! This party is gunna be epic"
Turning the headphones over in his hands he caught a glimpse of writing on the side, he hadn't seen it before, but it was faded, maybe he just hadn't seen it.
He could make out one word, a brand maybe?
Olympus.
"Heh" he chuckled "The headphones of the gods..."
BOOM!
Thunder cracked outside.
"The heck!, It wasn't even stormy" he looked outside, there weren't any clouds in the sky.
"But...I...Maybe i've been mixing too long today.." He said to himself "Get some sleep dude"

And the wiener is...

So, my last post I put forth two campaign concepts, one based on Ironman, which I thought sounded cool, and one based on Greek Mythology.
The votes are in... As so well put by my friend spuducles, "DEAD GODS!!!".

So the game I will be running is called "Resurrecting the Dead Gods".

Here it is.

Dead Gods Summary:
Players start off as normal, everyday humans. They may have have unknowingly followed in their father/mothers footsteps and be leading a life equivalent to their deity, or have gone in a completely different direction, ignoring the inate, albeit mundane, abilities given to them.
As game progresses, players realise their potential after a...cataclysmic event.
After being tapped its a race against the clock, and a seemingly all powerful bad guy, to prevent the destruction of the world.
It is up to YOU (points at player) to save humanity, and realise a future with, or without, the Gods.

Rules:
Players may only pick a parent from the greek mythology that appears within the pages of the Scion: Hero rule book.
All players must pick a UNIQUE parent god, that is, your daddy can't be the same as another players, get in early because if the god you want is taken, too bad. (So far we have Dionysus, Hephaestus, and Ares)
Players begin play with no knowledge of their powers.

So thats it, that's all I'm giving away...

Oh, and this.

The Prophecy:

Hidden among mortals the God’s blood lies,
Sought by those who serve the Dead God,
Blood united, a toll is taken,
God’s reawaken,
They hold the key to his birth,
Betrayers marked with his symbol,
Giving power to his destruction,
The Dead God’s Resurrection.

So, my plan is to use this blog space on the interwebages to write, in story form, the events that unfold in the epic tale that is Resurrecting the Dead Gods.

Stay tuned...

Campaign Ideas: Iron Knights and Dead Gods

Hello again,

So anyone who knows me knows i like to play rpg's (role-playing games). I also like to DM occasionally, that is run my own game.
Once upon a time i had a group of 4-5 people who i played with regularly, unfortunatley that has dwindled down to 2, with 1 of them not being able to make it very often, so that leaves myself and 1 other.
This is alright, but hardly as fun as having a large group of people.
Recently i have found a  new group of players which is good, and intend to run a game eventually, after i move to Bathurst to be closer to uni and friends.

Problem is i have a few idea, all of them running rampant in my brain, and all of them using different systems. I am unsure which to run.

So, here are 2 of the ideas i have, hopefully anyone in the group will post what idea they like the best.

1. The Iron Knights: This is a super hero campaign using the mutants and masterminds ruleset. It is very Ironman-esque. Players don't have super powers, instead they belong to a global organisation called the Iron Knights that uses exo-suits to take on bad guys and save the world.
A little history behind the Iron Knights:

A few years ago, Drew Turner, son of billionaire Harry Turner, who made his fortune building weapons and selling them to the United States military (anyone see where this is going?) was captured and tortured by a terrorist organisation to build them the ultimate weapon, The Hell Bomb, that Turner Industries had been working on for the United States military. Drew instead built a powerful exo suit that allowed him great strength, resistance to bullets, and a few bits of weaponry he could pack in to it. On escaping he returned to America, where he soon built a better suit using the technology available to him through his fathers company.
Over the years, Drew saved the world from many threats, including terrorist bombings, alien invasions, inter dimensional beings and so on, all under the disguise of Iron Fist.
A year ago a new hero arrived on the scene, Black Knight, sporting his own version of the exo suit, he helped Iron Fist save the world from the Raging Collosus, who claimed to be a titan, a being who existed before time, and who had a hand in forging this world.
Not long after, an alliance was struck between the Iron Fist and Black Knight, and they formed a new organisation known as the Iron Knights, funded by Iron Fist, in the form of Turner Industries support, and led by the Black Knight.
New recruits, once identified as worthy of an Iron Knight suit, are brought to the top secret training facilities and taught how to use the suit and save the world. Once fully trained they are deployed in various locations across the globe, awaiting for when they are needed.

So basically, you get a suit, all suits are different depending on how you customise them with the points you recieve, you can be a big gunner, or a stealthy type, whatever, you get to customise the suit.
Players are part of the First Response Unit, and are called upon to save the world from threat after threat.

2. Resurrecting the Dead God: This is a Scion game using the Scion ruleset. It is based in the greek mythology and takes place in modern day.
Players are the sons and daughters of gods and take on powers dependant on their parents.
I would go in to more detail but it would give away the plot, regardless to say you get tapped to save the world from an ancient and deadly evil, possibly some kind of god thought to be long dead...hence the title.
Players will complete quests based on my interpretation of old greek epics, such as medusas lair, minotaurs maze, the fates, so on and so forth.

So, let me know what game ideas you guys like and i'll decide which one to run.

Story: Mac's Mad World: Awake

Bleep Bloop...Bleep Bloop...Bleep Bloop.
An alarm was going off somewhere; it had been for a while.
Light flared into existence as a pair of eyes opened for the first time. Blurred vision slowly adapted to the light. The owner of the eyes became aware of liquid surrounding his entire body.
Panic set in, he was drowning. Lungs burned as he sucked for air, met only by a thick, gooey liquid. He reached out for something to grab hold of. He could see a room just out of reach. Fingers met the side of a smooth surface...glass.
His fists beat on the glass, fearing he would die soon, and then the world tipped. Glass smashed on the ground, green liquid flooded the ground, oozing across the floor.
Standing up for the first time, his legs shook unsteadily.
“Finally” came a strange voice “You’re up”
Looking around, a cold, metal table occupied the room, machinery beeped and flashed along the wall, a screen in the wall was cracked. The man was alone.
“Hello? You can hear me right?” came the voice again.
Confusion entered the man’s brain, the voice was strange, he couldn’t understand what it was saying.
“Oh, right” The voice said again “Hang on, loading language module”
Pain seared through his head, he let out a scream, and then it stopped.
“What the hell was that!” he screamed, his voice cracked slightly.
“You can speak, good. It still works” the disembodied voice replied, he could understand it now, and by its tone it was slightly amused.
His eyes stung as he turned to the light hanging above the table. It began flickering.
“Alright, you have to out of here, go through the door to your right” The voice emanated from all around him.
“What? I don’t know who you are or what’s going on, where am I?” He asked to the empty room, his voice was weak but he was getting used to it.
The voice sighed “We don’t have time, this whole place is about to come down” the room shook violently as if on cue “Now go!” it seemed panicked.
He stumbled across the room, his legs wobbled as he put weight on them. His foot came down on something hard and rolled away; grabbing the table in mid fall, he clung to it as if it was a life raft.
“Who are you?” he called out “Can you help me?” he looked around trying to spot a person who was not there.
“My name’s Aidrian, I don’t have time to explain, this place is going to explode, real soon”
He pushed himself back up right, his hand landed on a small, thumb sized object. Picking it up, the words “Macazai Robotics” was visibly imprinted on the side.
“But” He was cut off.
“MOVE!” the voice screamed in his head.
The room shook again, throwing him off balance; plaster hit the floor with a dull thud.
“The door, now!” shouted Aidrian, he sounded more panicked with every passing moment.
Stumbling towards the door, he grabbed the frame and pulled himself forward and out into a corridor. Lights flickered on and off here, doors lined the walls and an open door at the end of the hallway showed darkness ahead.
“Take the door at the end of the hallway, and head up the stairs. Go!”
Unsteady feet shuffled along the length of the hall. Doors branched off to the sides, dull light came out of a few, others were dark.
He stumbled through the door and began climbing the stairs slowly, the whole building shook.
“Almost there” Aidrian was sounding calmer “Left, Last dor, hurry”
He picked up speed; his legs were becoming accustomed to moving.
Flinging the door open he felt a breeze of fresh air flow around him. Moving through the door he felt sand and coarse dirt underneath his foot. It provided a different feel to the cold tiles and fallen plaster that was inside. Moonlight lit the area but he could feel the warmth of the earth beneath his feet.
The facility seemed to have been built in the middle of a desert.
Pin points of light could be seen in the distance, blasting a trailing of dust through the desert floor. As it got closer he slid down the side of a dune and headed towards the fast approaching lights. The rumble of the engine grew louder as it got closer. The truck stopped, the door clicked and swung open.
Another man approached him, wrinkles lined his face, grey hair could be seen from under a red hat.
“What the hell are you doing out here? Who are you?” the older man asked, curiosity showed in his face. He hadn’t seen anyone out this far before.
Before He could answer a loud explosion erupted from the direction of the facility he had just escaped, flames licked the sky.
The driver looked over at it.
“Bloody hell, hope you didn’t come from there” he looked back “What’s your name boy?”
The man shook his head, he didn’t know “My name...I...”
“Your name, what do people call you?” the driver stuck a thumb towards himself “They call me Jim, I’m a transporter”
The man thought for a moment, and then a name came to his mind.
“Macazai?” he said, nodding, he felt the small object still in his hand.
Jim looked at him, his face grew stern.
“I see...Mac it is” he looked at his truck, then back at Mac “Might wanna just stick with Mac”
Mac nodded again “Why?” he asked.
“Long story...long story” Jim sucked at his teeth “Know you’re naked Mac?”
Mac looked down and shivered, he hadn’t realised before because of the adrenalin, but now he was cold.
“Yes” replied Mac.
“Know why?” Jim asked
“No”
Jim laughed “Ha...well alright, jump in...I got spare clothes in the truck for the long hauls, I’ll give you a lift back to the farms, dunno how you got out or where you’re from but that’s the best I got”
Mac was confused, he wasn’t entirely aware of where he was from either, but he climbed in to the truck.
The engine rumbled to life again as the truck started moving.

Welcome my Story Corner

Hello,

My name is Squiggles, and this is my blog.

So some of my friends decided they would create blogs and talk about how interesting their day to day lives are. This got me interested in creating my own, however my day to day life is boring, dull and uneventful. So instead I came up with an idea, I would use this blog to do something I enjoy.

Writing stories.

I enjoy writing, and hope to eventually finish the first book in a series of books, but I will go into that some other time, maybe.

So there will probably be 3 kinds of posts:
  1.  Story posts, which follow a main character in an over arching plot,
  2.  Random Story/Ideas posts, which are just me putting down random stories I think of, these will most likely be one or two part stories,
  3.  and Me posts....Which will happen whenever I think I have something interesting to say about anything.

So that's it, read and hopefully enjoy.

Signed,
Mr Squiggles
