Dead Gods: The Legendary Legend of Daeon part 1

"Come on, it'll be rad, the students love this stuff and you could even make some money on the saide" Daeon was trying to convince the dampus monitors to let him throw a party using one of the halls.

Daeon had always found college easy. The work wasn't that, he hardly had to pay attention, there were tons of people to meet, and the parties. Daeon loved the parties.
He had excelled at setting up parties, throwing get togethers, and carousing shin digs at school, no matter what it was, if it involved a social gatherings of large amounts of people, it involved Daeon.
Daeon had put his natural talents to work when he hit college, forming parties and even offering his services to some of the local frat boys, and pretty soon he became well known for the legendary talents.
Daeon, the man, the guy to call when you needed something. He didn't just organise them, he made them.
Going under the guise of DJ Bacchus, Daeon released top hit mixes, his music became the sound of a generation, a symbol, and something with which to get funky.
He was Daeon the DJ.

Now he was standing in the quad, trees swaying gently to the summer breeze, the aroma of flowers filled the air, it was party season, parties was Daeons business, and business was good.
The campus monitor looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Well, I have been to some of your shin digs...they get a bit...wild at times" he said, looking back at Daeon.
"I can throw any kind of party your heart desires, my friend..." Daeon replied, he had hoped it would be an easy sell, the campus guys could make some money, and everyone would enjoy themselves, and he could probably make a cut too.
"Alright, I will have to talk to some people, see what we can do...sounds fun though"
"Most radical!" replied Daeon, a grin crossed his faced.
The campus monitor looked away, then back at Daeon, his smile gone.
"Crap" he said
"Whats wrong?"
He didnt say anything, just pointed to some kids heading their way.
Daeon looked over to them, he recognised them, they were the rich kids, the kind of people that used Daeons services regularly, and in front were the leaders of the pack.
Edwin Von Snobbish the XII, as he referred to himself, belonged to one of the richest, and most influential families around. The Von Snobbish's had their hands in everything, from coal mining, to record to producing to politics.
Edwin approached Daeon, his brother Willard, who was ever present at his side, smile shyly.
"Hello Dean" started Edwin, he could never get the name right.
Daeon cringed, but recovered quickly.
"What is up my little party hardlings?"
"Well, I've been looking for you, I want you to put together something for us...Something big"
"Very big" sad Willard, piping up.
"Big, boys, is my specialty" said Daeon "Whats the occasion?"
"H'well" began Edwin " as you are no doubt aware I'll be graduating soon, top marks ofcourse, and be heading off to work for my father next year. I've decided I want my leaving to be memorable, I was thinking maybe, a trip to las vegas for all the top lads. My family owns a bit of land out in the desert I want to use, it will be quite isolated so we shouldn't run into any problems"
Daeon nodded.
"Wide open spaces, I like, I like...What kind of budget are we running to here, my soon-to-be-a-graduand bro?"
Edwin shrugged.
"Oh well, you know me, price is no object...Hows $10,000 to start?"
"That sounds pretty narly, dude" Deon said, his mind reeled for a second, that was a nice chunk of green "To start...Of course" he finished.
"Excellent!" replied Edwin, he rubbed his hands together "How long should it take to organise everything?"
"Edwin, my brother, you know I work to your budget, your deadlines, and your requirements - I'm as flexible as that Gymnast your little bro there hangs out with"
Willard chuckled, which was followed by a swift slap to his head by Edwin.
Edwin though for a moment.
"Very well...2 weeks time?"
Daeon stopped, he began calculating a few things in his mind.
"I trust you'll be using my musical services?"
"Ofcourse Dean, you are the musical maestro" replied Edwin.
"Excellent, and to what genre do our tastes run for an event of this calibre?" asked Daeon "You know I can mix anything, into anything, with anything" he grinned.
Willard chuckled again, this time Edwin took no notice.
"Yes, yes, we've been impressed by what you can do in the past. Something that will get people up and dancing, something that will make them...lose control, as it were" Edwin replied, he grinned this time.
"That can most definatly be arranged my friends"
"Good, well...Until then, goodbye" Edwin turned and left, Willard grinned at Daeon and then quickly scurried away after Edwin.
*Beep Beep* Daeons phone went off.
Checking the message it was from Mystical Muscalities, the local music shop Daeon enjoyed visiting.
"Hey man" it read "New parts in, came all the way from Oz, but it's in one piece, check it out after class"
Daeon made a mental note to drop by, and then went back to class.

During class Daeon payed little attention to the lecture material, he tended to get by on his charisma, and some of the lecturers owed him a few favours for keeping quiet about some of their activites during his parties.
Once classes had finished he slipped on his messenger back, jumped on his motorcycle and headed off to see his new gadget.

Pulling in to the rear parking lot, the place was mostly empty, except for the puke green, beat up old volkswagon beetle he knew to be Rays, the owner of the store. A reserved sign danled in front of a parking spot near the entrance, the spot Ray always reserved for Daeon.
Daeon entered the shop.
A middle aged man sat behind a glass counter, his hair had receded so much he reminded Daeon of a monk. Thick glasses sat atop his nose, as he peered over the top of a guitar.
"Hey Daeon" Said Ray "Got the part for you"
"Sweet man, whats she like then?" asked Daeon, he put his helmet on the counter.
Ray put his guitar down.
"Haven't opened it yet" he said, placing a brown parcel on the counter.
"Sweet man" Daeon inspected the box "How's business?"
"Business is good, as always" replied Ray, he gestured around the empty store "Got some new stock in today, tuning a few guitars for that semi-professional heavy metal band, Death Gods"
Daeon remembered hearing about Death Gods. It was a band that had become big on the music scene a few months ago.
"Sweet, Heard much of their stuff?" he asked, using his keys to open the box.
Ray shook his head.
"Nah, not much into that kind of music, specially that new song, Ressurection, listened to a bit, sounded crap t me, but hey, they got the green so I don't mind too much"
"Yeah man, not my kind of music either...Aaah, brilliant" said Daeon, holding his new piece up to the light "Looks just like the bit I was missing"
"Knew you'd be stoked" replied Ray, ringing up the till.
As Daeon turned the part in his hand something caught his eye. Sitting on a shelf behind the counter, a pair of old headphones looked particularly interesting, it called to him.
"Hey, don't be so hasty with the thinking I'm done yet brother..."
Ray stopped.
"Oh sorry man, whatchya need?" he asked.
"Lemme...Just look at those headphones...I've got a big gig comming up in the middle of nowhere -  I'm gunna need to drown out the sound of preppy rich boys" said Daeon, the headphones called to him again, he wanted to try them, now.
"Oh those things" said Ray, fetching the headphones "Found them the other day. They were out the back, dunno for how long, didn't even know I had them"
Daeon picked them up and inspected them closely, they were old, really old.
"man...retro...Got anything i can test them on?"
"Sure, you know where the equipment is" Ray said, waving him towards the test equipment.
Daeon plugged them in and set to work. The headphones were great, he could hear everything, every beat, every scratch, every note.
Packing them up he looked at Ray.
"Ring 'em up" he said
Ray added the headphones to his bill, and after having handed over his money Daeon was out of the store.

A large, black raven sat atop his motorbike, another pecked at something on the ground.
Daeon shivered, the birds gave him the creeps.
The first bird looked at him with beady eyes.
"CAW!" it said.
The other pecked at the ground.
The first looked at the one on the ground.
"CAW!" it repeated.
The second looked up.
"Oh, CAW!" it said.
Daeon shook his head, he couldn't have heard that right.
He edged towards his bike, the first spread its wings and flew off into the sky, the second stayed for a few seconds and flew after the first.
"heh, They're like Edwin and Willard" said Daeon out loud.

Getting back to his room Daeon plugged his new headphones in and began mixing. Music flowed from his fingertips, it had never come so easily to him. After a while he checked the time, hours had gone past.
Removing the headphones he inspected them.
"Man!" he exlaimed "These things rock! This party is gunna be epic"
Turning the headphones over in his hands he caught a glimpse of writing on the side, he hadn't seen it before, but it was faded, maybe he just hadn't seen it.
He could make out one word, a brand maybe?
Olympus.
"Heh" he chuckled "The headphones of the gods..."
BOOM!
Thunder cracked outside.
"The heck!, It wasn't even stormy" he looked outside, there weren't any clouds in the sky.
"But...I...Maybe i've been mixing too long today.." He said to himself "Get some sleep dude"
